Michael is the Head of our exclusive and retained executive search business, Morunda Blue. He is also a Director with the Morunda Group. Michael first came to Japan in 2003 and began working in Life Science Executive search from 2005 where he worked alongside the Morunda Group founder, Philip Carrigan for 5 years achieving the position of Partner in the Pharmaceutical team. He subsequently worked in London as a Consultant for Europe’s largest and longest established Life Science executive search business where he ran retained service offerings for global clients across EMEA, the America’s and Asia Pacific (including Japan). Away from recruitment, Michael has worked in Investor Relations advisory to both Private Equity and FTSE 250 listed companies. He has his MBA from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor’s of Commerce from Monash University, Australia

Philip Carrigan is the Founder and Representative Director of the Morunda Group (encompassing Morunda Search, Morunda Blue and Morunda Asia in Singapore). He has worked in Life Science recruitment since 2001. Philip established the Morunda Group in 2011 following a sustained period of success in the Japanese Life Science market. He is an active thought leader in Life Science search (over 80 published articles in the leading Japanese Industry Newsletter) and has been an active presence in local networking industry events (of which he hosts his own yearly Senior Management conferences). Prior to recruitment, Philip was a Teacher in his native Australia and has his Master’s in Linguistics from Leicester University, UK and Diploma of Education from Armidale College of Advanced Education in Australia.

Adam Kennedy is a Director with the Morunda Group and first came to Japan in 2002 (working alongside Philip Carrigan at his first company). He has been working in search ever since, specialising in senior level positions within the Pharmaceuticals and Biotechnology sectors. Adam has proven himself to be one of Japan’s top recruiters and Asia’s Life Science leaders regularly seek him out for his deep industry knowledge and consultative approach.

Adam focuses on director level positions and above, and has a personal interest in rare diseases, firms servicing to Pharma and Device Manufacturers and smaller operations establishing themselves in Asia. Originally trained in finance, Adam worked in a variety of financial and operational management roles in the UK’s National Health Service, as well as a boutique consulting firm.
